Madurai, the second largest city in Tamil Nadu, is known for its world renowned Meenakshi Temple. This temple is famous for its intricate carvings and scriptures. The city of Madurai is situated at the bank of river Vaigai and boasts of a rich culture and heritage. More than 2,500 years old, it is one of the most ancient cities of India. Once the capital of Pandya kings, Madurai is considered to have been built by Pandyan King Kulasekara, in the 6th century BC.

It is situated at a distance of 427 km from Bangalore and is one of the must visit tourist destinations in South India. Often known as the Athens of the East, the city comprises of a number of temples and historical monuments. Thousands of pilgrims and tourists visit Madurai every year in search of spiritual peace. Apart from temples, tourists can also visit other such examples of Tamilian architecture in British and Islamic styles. There are also a number of mosques and cathedrals in the city, where people can receive divine sermons.

Madurai has something for everybody. The famous Float Festival is of great religious importance and attracts pilgrims from across the country. The adventurous lot of tourists can visit Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and Megamalai tea estates, while the nature lovers can go to Kodaikanal, Suruli and Kumbakkarai Water Falls. Thus, Madurai presents a beautiful blend of art, culture, spirituality, technology and entertainment, thus making it a popular tourist destination.

Kodaikanal is the most beautiful and popular hill station in Tamil Nadu. It is located in the famous Palani Hills in Western Ghats and is known as the Princess of hill stations. Kodaikanal is situated about 7,200 feet above the sea level.

Dodda Alada Mara or Big Banyan Tree is one of the nearest popular tourist destination and weekend destination near Bangalore. It is over 400 years old big Banyan tree covering around 3 acres of land. It has a well baricaded area with pavements, dustbins, seating arrangements, and security. It can be a good picnic spot, provided you bring food along with you and preferably a tent as there a lot of monkeys.
The tree itself is a awesome sight and please note that it is just one tree covering that entire area. Banyan trees become so big that many parts of the tree which are very far from the root do not receive enough water so that sprout off shoots as roots and let them reach the soil as another root to take water. This results in covering a huge area. This tree is said to be the largest tree in Karnataka and the second largest in India. Apart from the Big Banyan Tree, there is small temple dedicated to Lord Muneshwara (Lord Shiva). The Big Banyan Tree is maintained by Bank Of Maharashtra. Take a walk around the tree or sit some good amount of time in the shades of it. If you are keen on looker then go ahead and check the roots, take pictures in their various dimensions. 
How to Reach
After Kengeri take the right after Rajarajeshwari Dental College and Hospital. You will come across the railway crossing. Follow the raod which will lead to the place. Dodda Alada mara is 8 kms from the Rajrajeshwari Dental college on the Bangalore � Mysore Road and 3 km from Ramohalli village. BMTC bus no. 227 is also flown from K R Market. You can enjoy the greenery on the way and check the various flower nurseries and away from the maddenning rush of the city.

The Nazca Lines are located in the arid Peruvian coastal plain ( Peru, in western South America, extends for nearly 1,500 mi (2,414 km) along the Pacific Ocean.) some 400 km south of Lima, the geoglyphs of Nazca and the pampas of Jumana cover about 450 sq. km.

Nazca Lines are the most outstanding group of geoglyphs in the world. Etched in the surface of the desert pampa sand about 300 hundred figures made of straight lines, geometric shapes and pictures of animals and birds - and their patterns are only clearly visible from the air.

The Nazca Lines, which were scratched on the surface of the ground between 500 B.C. and A.D. 500, are among archaeology's greatest enigmas because of their quantity, nature, size and continuity.

The geoglyphs depict living creatures, stylized plants and imaginary beings, as well as geometric figures several kilometers long. They are believed to have had ritual astronomical functions.

Kodagu is known as �Scotland of India�, because of its beautiful nature landscape and it is a  favourite tourist place near bangalore for its cool weather. Kodagu is a very attractive hill station and it is located in the south-western part of Karnataka. Kodagu or Coorg is derived from the local version Kodavu and the people of Kodagu, Kodavas. According to Puranic versions the land of initial settlement was called Krodadesa which later became Kodavu. It is also said that Kodagu is derived from the word Kodava, �Kod�means �give� and �avva� means �mother�, i.e., Mother Cauvery. The river Cauvery is a sacred river of southern India, rising on , Talacauvery, Brahmagiri Hill in Kodagu District. 
History 
Kodagu was included in the Kingdom of Gangas during 9th and 10th centuries and Cholas in the 11th century. Changalvas were feudatory to both the above dynasties but they were independent till 14th century since Hoysalas overthrew Cholas in the 12th century. Changalvas accepted the supremacy Of Hoysalas from 14th to 16th century. Then Nayakas who later paved the way to the Haleri Rajas of Kodagu ruled till 1834.

The prominent peaks in Coorg are Kote Betta, Pushpagiri, Nishani Motte, Tumbe Male. Tadiyandamol (1750 m), Soma Male and Brahmagiri.
